Juan was recognized in the Architecture and Construction Newsletter for BYU-Idaho. Out of all the construction and architecture majors, he was chosen. Here is what they wrote about him.
"Juan Enriquez is currently a senior at BYU-Idaho majoring in construction management. He was taught the importance of hard work growing up as the oldest of 6 children. Just before his 15th birthday, his father and little sister passed away in a tragic car accident. The Enriquez family was devestated, not only would Juan need to worry about his own future, but also assume responsibility as man of the house. He took a side job in high school to help provide for his family and was able to carry himself and his family throught the hard times.
Ten years have passed since the accident and Juan still shows the same courage and perseverance that was instilled in him as a young man. He is married to high school sweetheart Alise McGary. They have two sons Damon and Keenan. Thier son Damon suffers from Cerebral palsy, polymicrogyria and microcephaly. Though Juan and Alise live on a typical student budget, they ensure that thier children recieve the best care. Damon is currently child of the year for the Foundation for Children with Microcephaly.
Juan loves the construction industry and looks forward to his future career. He has recently accepted an internship with CH2MHillat the hanford site in Washington state and will be graduationg in April 2011."
How could I not be so proud of him? As I look back 10 years ago, a lot can happen in this time. People that knew Juan at the time, would not have guessed he would be where he is at right now! He was heading down a path that should have taken him elsewhere. But because of some great people beside him, pushing him in the right way, he is now an amazing person! I love him and I love the man that he has become. I am excited for our future together and its looking so bright! Congratulations Juan!
