Home Renovation!

It's about time I try and post news about the home!
What an exciting, yet super stressful time! We did some major work to the house before we moved. Lucky for us, we had the advantage that we were still in contract with our apartment so we were able to stay settled and do damage on the new house! We feel super blessed to have this house! Living in the Portland area, one level homes go up for sale quickly and sell quickly! Because we could only buy a one level house for the sake of Damon, our options were very limited! this was only about our 4th-or 5th house we looked at. I know the norm is look at 20+ houses then choose, but in the economy at the moment, houses are at a low, and the housing market has picked up again! Homes are selling very quickly!
Ours for instance, went on the market on a Thursday, I saw the posting at about 10:00 am, went and looked at it at 5:00 pm, there was already an offer on it! See what I mean when things move quickly?

This home just seemed to be the perfect home for us at the moment! Of course its not the top of the line, amazing, Wisteria lane, granite countertop house! But for a starter home, it suits us perfectly! We went with all the kids to look at the home, and Keenan was saying, "This is our home mom!" He couldn't of been more right! We did offer 5,000 over asking because of the other offer, but it worked out just great because it needed a whole new roofing thing with shingles. So we asked seller to pay for that and they came through! Another added plus is it has central heat/air which is pretty uncommon around here! You either get electric heat in older homes, and no ac is pretty much very normal here.

Our agent was recommended by us, Russ Homewood, who was an amazing agent to work with for us! I am not a patient person and he worked with us knowing our situation and went to bat for us on everything!
The first night we got the keys, we headed over, switched out locks, and started ripping carpet up! I just couldnt stand it! we were so excited to finally be homeowners!!!

We were lucky enough to have Juans family here for a month for Vickys wedding so we put the little brothers to work and Juans mom watched kids for us so we could come work in the evenings. Most days I would bring them with me during the day, then we would come again in the evenings. Exhausting!

There were layers of flooring in the kitchen area. This was under lanoleum. So we just put the laminate flooring over it. The flooring says, "Install in a day, enjoy for a lifetime" haha if they only didnt put that in, I wouldnt have thought Juan could do it in a weekend. Boy oh boy was I wrong!

Grandma came with us this time and entertained the boys.

This was a wall I painted and then thought it was defenitly not what I was going for! So I roamed around on the internet, and found something more suiting for us!

My parents were awesome! They came down for Vicky and Juans wedding and brought the truck full of stuff for us! My dad also wired in a fan/light in our living room because there was nothing! He also moved our chandelier in our dining room to the center where I new table would be going.

I asked my dad if he would make me a table! And this is what I wanted and he delivered!

The new suting color! Orange!!!

My mom was put to work cleaning the chandaleir lights!
