A winter storm hit our area on Thursday afternoon. I figured I better get grocery shopping before the weather turned bad. So I went to the gym for an hour and had plans to do some errands. I got as far as the bank and Costco done and then got a call that school was getting out early because of the storm! So I had to rush and get home but still had to get to Winco. It was slow going because it had already started snowing pretty hard. I called Juan and told him the roads were pretty slick. He ended up leaving work early also along with others at his work. Come to find out, it took some of his co-workers about triple the time to get home! Glad we don't live towards Portland! Because I still had to go to Winco Keenan was one of the last to get picked up at school. But Im so glad I went and did it when I did! Keenan was so excited to be getting out for snow days! We don't get to see much snow here! As soon as we got home, we got our winter clothes out of the garage and headed out! Last time we used this sled was proably 2 or 3 winters ago!
This was as soon as we got home. You can see the door wasn't even shut on the van we were so excited!
And here is today, Friday about 8" of snow! and still going!
Juan didn't end up going to work today either so it was a play day for us all! We tried to improvise and use this wood to shovel our driveway. yah we didn't get very far and luckily because its all snowed over now anyways!
I got the kids water bottles and we used colored water to draw in the snow! They thought it was pretty cool!
I saw a friend of mine had posted about using snow with sweet and condensed milk and flavoring so we tried it. It was good for a few bites then it got old fast! But fun to try!
Luckily we have been keeping warm with this fireplace!
As I was laying all these piles of clothes in front of the fire to dry, I can clearly remember doing the same growing up. We always had piles in front of the fireplace drying and ready for our next round outside! Good memories!
