4th of July in Rockaway Beach

Heather txt me one day and asked if we were coming up to Washington for the 4th of July, which I replied no to since at the time we were still planning on a trip to Utah for a family reunion. So I mentioned they should come here! Well it happened which is a big deal! We had a blast with them! We spent the day at Rockaway Beach for the 4th going to their little parade and hanging out on the beach! They had games going on for the kids, races, we built sandcastles, played in the water, and soaked up the warm sun! We are lucky we had warm weather! We left before fireworks or anything started because it takes 1.5 hours to get home and we didn't want to get home at 2 am since we had hiking planned for the next day. So we went home, us adults went out to dinner, then we picked up fireworks on our way home to light off with the kids! They loved it and we loved being right at home and not with the crowds. We had enough illegal fireworks going off around us we didn't feel like we missed out at all!

Saturday we woke up and hiked the 4T trail in Portland. We started out at the zoo then ended in Portland. We grabbed some lunch at the Food Carts downtown and the kids spent some of their money at the City Target. We had a great time with them here and can't wait for next year to plan another trip!
