Adalyn Grace Enriquez

Friday March 13th at 11:27 pm we welcomed little miss Adalyn into our family!
I had a scheduled induction for her at noon. I have chosen inductions because of our aituation with Damon. It is just so much easier to plan around him and have a place for him to go. He is currently at the child center again for 2 weeks. My mom came down Friday night after work to stay with the boys until Monday afternoon.  Usually they do inductions in the morning but my Dr wasn't on call until 5 pm that night and so I wanted me to come in later. They hooked me up to Pitocin about 1:30 pm and contractions became more regular. They would be regular for a bit then slow down so they would come and turn it up more. Nothing really changed and the intensity wasn't near anything painful. They did get more intense around 9 pm but still nothing Juan  horrible. I was talking to my mom and the boys around 9:50-10:00 pm when I felt a pop of some sort and an immediate contraction! It was painful. Up to this point they were still.not strong. We didn't think we would be having this baby on the 13th. I went to the restroom and and completly filled the container full. I either had a really full bladder or my water had broke. When I got back to the bed, The contractions became very close together and more painful. I called for an epidural and it took about 10 minutes to get the epidural finally in me. It didn't react quickly and they said it could take 30 minutes to  take  full effect. With as close as the  contractions were and how hard they  were, I knew something was happening and happening fast. I was checked and I was at a 5. still 5 to gom About 5 minutes after the anesthesiologist left, I felt like I needed to push. I was checked again and I was at a10 already! Time to push! My epidural didn't really kick in good until about half way through pushing. I pushed about 20 minutes and of course she came sunny side up! That alone makes babies harder to push out. I was so wore out from pushing and being drained and possibly in shock with how fast it went, I was like a gained limp noodle all over. arms, legs and body.
She had a very short umbilical cord and was just eniugh to get her out and that's it! We had planned to do skin to skin contact with her but when she came out she was having a hard time breathing and her secretions were getting jumbled in her throat. They brought in a suction tube to clear her out but it wouldn't pass through. That led to beleive that something wasn't right. They took her to the NICU for an Xray that did indeed show some abnormalities. Her trachea and esophagus were not attached. This happens in about 1 in 250,000 births and happens around 4 weeks gestation.
I text Juan that I was scared and what they were saying. He said they were coming back soon. I was a bit annoyed that he wasn't telling me anything and him and the NICU nurse walk in quiet. He held my hand and then the nurse started explaining it all to me. I was doing so well until I started seeing the nurses eyes get a little watery and that she hated telling parents bad news. It just doesn't seem fair! We already go through so.much WITH damon and now this? With my perfect little baby just born minutes ago? Why! I was able to go see her a couple hours later and my epidural had started to wear off. By this time I had done my crying, Juan and I had cried together and it was time to figure out a game plan and figure this out. I was able to hold her and she became so calm. by this time it was already about 2 am and we were both physically, and emotionally drained and just wanted to get to our recovery room and sleep. I knew she was in goods hands but it was so hard to see her gagging on the tube they had placed down her throat as a continuous suction to keep her from choking and aspirating. We were able to get some sleep and I was so anxious to go see her in the morning after breakfast!
Keenan was so proud of her! Having a NICU child the siblings have to bring in their immunization records to be able to go in. Because I don't have all of Nikos written down he wasn't able to go see herm But it was probably for the best because he has been getting over a cough.
I'm so glad my mom could come and help out!
Baby Adalyn and the suction tube

My dad just walks into my room singing "daughter of mine" and I was in total shock! I was not expecting him to come down for this! I seriously have the best parents ever!
