A Hospital Visit

Oh what an adventure this was! Back on October 29th, Damons feeding tube had fallen out. Damon sleeps on the couch for some super odd reason, and refuses to sleep in his bed, and he happened to fall off the couch that night and I put him back up on the couch, put him back to sleep and the rest of the night went smoothly. I woke up at 8 am and went to give him his meds and get his feedings started. Only to find that his feeding tube was no where. I did find it on the floor a few minutes later, so I suspect that it came out when he fell off.
I get him into the ER because it had already closed up which isn't suprising because they close pretty fast, and being that it was almost all night out, we had to make a trip. We went in and Vicky came along to help me out with the kids. The DR tried and tried and tried to get the tube into using different things to force it in. Finally it went in, and we even went in for aN x-Ray to make sure it was in the right place. All things looked great until we got home and started a feed. He pooped almost as fast as it went in. I didn't think anything was wrong until it was like that until Sunday. We took him to a different ER in Vancouver because we were to meet up with my parents and grandparents over there. Juan and vicky went to the hospital while I went to meet up with my parents.
I got a call from Juan a couple hours later that they were ambulancing him back to Portland to Legacy Emanual Childrens hospital and that they needed to do surgery to repair the damage that was done at the previous hospital. Come to find out, a hole had been punctured in the bowel and so all the food was going straight into to bowel and right out explaining why it was coming out so fast. A lot of talk was being talked about and was really scary. We didn't know what they were going to find when they got into the stomach and were'nt sure how surgery would go. Tests were done to see where air was going into areas in the intestines and everything looked great. Luckily thigns went smoothly and they only needed to repair the bowel and replace and move the feeding tube to a new place on his stomach.
It was a huge blessing that my parents were in the area that weekend and were able to be with us at the hospital while everything was going on. My dad and Juan were able to give Damon a blessing that night before my parents headed back home. I was so so grateful to have my parents there. A hug from my dad in the ER after talking to Dr's about possible complications was exactly what I needed.
We are also really lucky to have my Grandpa and his wife so close! They came the next day, Monday and brought us Chipotle and came back to hang out with us. It was neat to see a different side of my grandpa that I had not seen.
This is not the Damon that we like to see
We were on the side where the life flight helicopters come in and its amazing how many come in and out of there!
This is after surgery. There is a huge tube come out of his nose from his stomach where gravity takes out anything from his stomach and into a little diaper. He was also had a gravity pull from his feeding tube. He wasn't to have anything in his stomach and so by the time he actually was able to have food through the tube, it was about 5 days that food had actually entered the stomach.
Keenan would come and visit us occasionally but it was hard because of the small space. Atleast we didn't have to share a room. I was so grateful for that! It didn't take Keenan long to know where the game/toy room was and was always wanting a new game.
Having a brother moment. The thing that this picture captures- Damon loves, loves LOVES balloons. He is majorly hurting here because he wants his balloon but also can't move too much because it hurts but doesn't want to let it go. so sad..

I made Juan go to work on Monday, but then suprised me by walking in later that morning. His work told him to be with his family and not to worry about anything. I am so grateful for this job. It has been an amazing company so far and just seems to understand everything we have going on with Damon.
The tube is gone! Yah what a nice day to finally get this out!
We have never been in a hospital long enough to "enjoy" its activities. On Tuesdays its family movie night. So over the hospital channel they played Cars 2, brought around popcorn, pop, and candy. Wednesday was BINGO day also played over the same channel. When you got a BINGO you called a number and you were able to go get a prize. Damon won and he got to go get a DR Seuss matching game.
Also another great blessing! Juan's mom flew in for about 2 weeks with us and it was so nice having the company at the hospital but also having the help. There is no way I could have done it alone with Damon and Niko at the hospital.
These flowers and turtle showed up from Juan's work. So nice that it brought tears to my eyes.
